SCOTUS reverses AL lesbian adoption

This is an unholy mess brought on by different states having different laws regarding adoption and LGBT rights.  And the ones who pay most dearly are the children.

WASHINGTON — The Supreme Court on Monday unanimously reversed an Alabama court's refusal to recognize a same-sex adoption.

The justices upheld a challenge brought by an Alabama woman after her state's highest court refused to recognize the adoption she and her former lesbian partner were granted in Georgia.

The couple never married and have since split up. But the case presented a test of an issue that crops up occasionally in state and federal courts since the Supreme Court struck down state bans on same-sex marriage: Can gays and lesbians be denied adoption rights?

The case was brought by "V.L.," as she is identified in court papers, against her former partner "E.L.," who gave birth to three children between 2002-04 while the couple was together. To win adoption rights for V.L., they established temporary residency in Georgia.

Kansas Bill Claims LGBTQ Community is a Religion

I really don't know what to say about this other than this: if the LGBT Community is a religion, it's the most FABULOUS religion there is. Lol

A group of seven Republican lawmakers in Kansas have introduced what is perhaps the most convoluted, if not cockamamie, attempt to roll back LGBTQ equality that has ever been dreamed up. The proposal is absurd and extremely unlikely to become law — Kansas’ governor, Laura Kelly, is a Democrat whose first official act was to reinstate protections for LGBTQ workers which her predecessor had eliminated. Nevertheless, the bill lends some insight into the minds of anti-LGBTQ lawmakers as they ponder how much leeway a Supreme Court with a conservative majority, and a rightward trending judiciary, might give them.

SCOTUS Allows Transgender Military Ban Enforcement

Well, we knew it could happen and it has. We are now feeling the effects of a 100% conservative Supreme Court. To be honest, I don't know why anyone in the LGBT community would want to risk their lives for people who hate them, but I'm not a very good person.

The Supreme Court on Tuesday granted the Trump administration's request to allow it to temporarily enforce its restrictions on transgender people serving in the military.

The justices stayed district court injunctions that blocked the new policy pending a ruling in the Ninth Circuit on the government's appeal.

The court, however, did not agree to review the legality of the new policy as the administration had asked.

President Just Asked SCOTUS to Allow Transgender Military Ban

I will never understand why it's so difficult for anyone to accept LGBT into the military. They are, essentially, willing to lay down their life for your freedom. Maybe it's that you don't want to be indebted to them in that way? What if all the straight men and women quit the military across the board because they didn't want to risk their lives if they were going to reproduce?
The Trump administration on Friday asked the Supreme Court to take up three cases challenging the administration's repeated efforts to bar transgender people from serving in the military. The move is the latest unusual filing at the high court by an administration that appears eager to leapfrog over appeals courts that have sided previously with challengers to the administration's policies.

The effort to reverse Obama-era policies allowing for open transgender military service began when President Donald Trump tweeted out news of the ban in July 2017 and has been met with heavy skepticism from courts around the country since that morning.
