Kim Davis Must Pay Legal Fees of Gay Couple

Remember Kim Davis? The Kentucky beast who refused to issue licenses to gay couples in her county? Well her woes ain't over yet. Bet she's gonna have a few extra jobs to find that money.

Lawyers for Kentucky GOP Governor Matt Bevin say that former Rowan County Clerk Kim Davis must pay the $225,000 in legal fees owed to the gay couples who sued her for refusing to issue marriage licenses because of her Christian-based opposition to same-sex marriage.

The Lexington Herald-Leader reports: ‘Although Bevin, a Republican, publicly has praised Davis as “an inspiration … to the children of America,” his attorneys are taking a more critical tone in court briefs, blaming the ex-clerk for failing to do her job following the U.S. Supreme Court’s June 2015 decision legalizing gay marriage. A three-judge panel will hear arguments about the case’s expenses Thursday at the U.S. 6th Circuit Court of Appeals in Cincinnati. A district judge ruled in 2017 that the couples suing for marriage licenses clearly prevailed and that the state of Kentucky must pay their fees and costs.’

Bevin’s lawyers want the bill handed to Davis, and say she acted alone in denying the marriage licenses.

Transgender Army captain: don't stay silent

I can understand both sides of the argument. You don't want to speak out, because of the consequences of doing so. Yet at the same time, the more who are out spoken the more we can all do to help.

Transgender U.S. Army Capt. Jennifer Peace on Wednesday called on fellow service members to speak up, saying “staying silent is the most dangerous thing you can do” in the wake of a Supreme Court decision to allow the Trump administration to temporarily enforce its restrictions on transgender people serving in the military.

“If you’re hiding, you’re scared about the consequences and the impacts, it doesn’t matter, you’ve got to speak because being silent and refusing to share your story is the most dangerous thing you can do,” Peace told Hill.TV’s Buck Sexton and Krystal Ball during an interview on “Rising.”

Peace, who has served in the military for over 13 years and completed two tours in Iraq and Afghanistan, was outed in 2015 and was forced to officially reveal her new identity and transition while in the Army.

SCOTUS Allows Transgender Military Ban Enforcement

Well, we knew it could happen and it has. We are now feeling the effects of a 100% conservative Supreme Court. To be honest, I don't know why anyone in the LGBT community would want to risk their lives for people who hate them, but I'm not a very good person.

The Supreme Court on Tuesday granted the Trump administration's request to allow it to temporarily enforce its restrictions on transgender people serving in the military.

The justices stayed district court injunctions that blocked the new policy pending a ruling in the Ninth Circuit on the government's appeal.

The court, however, did not agree to review the legality of the new policy as the administration had asked.

Giving Sex Advice

Last night I experienced something new. I work part time at two of our live venue theatres and last night we had a showing of Jaws (from 1975) with the music played live. As I was helping people find their seats, a man came up to me and said, "Can you help me find my seat? I'm lost. In life and here." I laughed it off and thought nothing of it. People say weird shit to me all the time and I just let it slide, unless they're rude.

Later, he came out into the lobby during the movie and I knew immediately that he was looking for the men's room, so I directed him without prompting. He said, "You're a good one Charlie Brown." Again weird, but nothing offensive.

The third time I saw him, was the strangest of all. He came up to me and he's like, "I'm on the fourth date with this hot guy and I really want to fuck him, but he's like totally drunk. What should I do?" He seemed nice enough, so I was honest. I told him to wait til the next date and make sure sex happens before any drinking happens. "So you think I should just give him a kiss on the cheek and leave it at that?" I said yes and he agreed.

While the Me Too movement is dominated by heterosexual women being assaulted by heterosexual men, it can happen just as easily in the lgbt community and this situation is a prime example. However, putting that aside, wouldn't you want a sex partner who is responsive to your needs as much as you are trying to please them? I mean you might as well masturbate for all the response you get from a drunk person passed out on your bed.

Liberal Lesbian Radio Podcast

I always find the most interesting things on YouTube. When they make recommendations on videos I might like based on what I view, I feel they get it right about 90% of the time. Every once in a while, though, they hit me with a suggestion that just blows me out of the water. I got one of those suggestions today and decided to click on it. What I found was the Stephanie Miller podcast. She's a big unknown to me, so I looked her up and was impressed by what I found. Impressed enough to share this here so that others may follow her and listen to what she's got to say.

Trans in the South 2019 Edition

A friend of mine shared this on Facebook and I admit this is the first I've ever heard of it. I'm thrilled that this book exists, but to be honest, I wish there was an edition for lesbians and gay men, too. And not just for the South, though admittedly there are probably more open minded physicians who are easier to find elsewhere in the country. Two years ago I changed doctors and I don't know how open minded my new doctor is. The other one was open minded, but also very off-putting in her general attitude about my health. I always left visits feeling depressed. Anyway, this guide is free and I hope people find it and use to the fullest extent.

House Bans LGBT Employment Discrimination

A huge win for the LGBT community. Three big changes with the new Democratic controlled House of Representatives include a ban on discrimination for staffers and jobseekers.

When the 116th Congress met for the first time on Thursday, the Democrat-controlled House of Representatives passed a package of rules that will govern the legislative body’s operation for the next two years.

Three major changes differentiate this year’s House rules package: a ban on members serving on corporate boards, a requirement that members take ethics training every year and a ban on employment discrimination against LGBTQ staffers and jobseekers. The rules package was pushed by Rep. David Cicilline, D-R.I., one of eight openly LGBTQ lawmakers in the House.

“Government at its best works for the benefit of all Americans, not just the powerful and privileged,” Cicilline said in a statement. “Protecting the rights of LGBT employees is just the right thing to do.”

Evangelical Group Wants to Lynch LGBT

Another story I'd saved from a few days ago. This is just inhumane and sickening. Maybe Mr Staver should be lynched.

The U.S. Senate last month unanimously passed a bill that would explicitly make lynching a federal crime. Not everyone, however, is pleased with passage of the Justice for Victims of Lynching Act.

Liberty Counsel, an evangelical nonprofit that opposes gay rights, and its chairman, Mat Staver, are taking issue with the bill’s inclusion of LGBTQ people.

Alabama Woman 1st Trans Murder Victim of '19

I am several days late in sharing this information, for which I apologize. I do not blog from my phone, but I do everything else there, including finding stories to share here. I saved this story via my phone and got busy and unable to share. I truly hope Ms Martin finds peace in death; peace she wasn't allowed to have while walking this earth.

Dana Martin, shot to death Sunday in Montgomery, Ala., is the first transgender homicide victim of 2019.

Police found Martin, 31, in a vehicle in a roadside ditch about 11 p.m. Sunday, the Montgomery Advertiser reports. The newspaper did not mention her gender, and some other media outlets misgendered her, but local activists told The Advocate she was an African-American trans woman. She lived in Hope Hull, an unincorporated area near Montgomery.

MI Governor Signs Ban on LGBT Discrimination by State Agencies

This is a huge leap for our brothers and sisters in the state of Michigan. Hopefully she can keep the momentum going.

Newly sworn-in Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer (D) has signed an executive directive that will prohibit discrimination against LGBTQ people by state government agencies, contractors and service providers.
Monday's signing of the directive by Whitmer, who took office Jan. 1, occurred at a LGBTQ community center in the Detroit area, according to The Associated Press.
The directive also clarifies and strengthens existing prohibitions against LGBTQ people working in state government, the news service reported.

Step-Father Murdered Gay 10 Year Old Son

I forgot that I had saved this on Facebook and forgot about it. This is horrible. These people shouldn't be parents because clearly they do not care about life. It's heartbreaking. The punishment for this kind of shit should be that she have her ovaries removed and he get a vasectomy. I hope the state is able to put the sister with family and that they aren't the same way. But most of all, I hope little Anthony rests peacefully, knowing he won't be hurt any more. :(

The sister of a 10-year-old boy allegedly killed for liking boys has revealed what she remembers of his horrifying final hours.
Anthony Avalos, 10, died on 20 June. He was malnourished, covered in bruises and burn marks, and had a series of head injuries.
His mother, Heather Barron, called 911 in Lancaster, California to say he had fallen down the stairs.
But the boy’s eight-year-old sister tells a different story. She says her mother’s boyfriend picked Anthony up and dropped him on his head 10 times hours before his death.
Both the boy’s mother, Heather Barron, and stepfather, Kareem Leiva, are indicted for capital murder.

Elections and Movies Help Ban Conversion Therapy

This shouldn't even be a thing, but it is, unfortunately. I'm glad that more states are providing the means to protect its LGBT populous.

NEW YORK (AP) — Activists urging more states to ban gay conversion therapy for minors are expecting major gains in 2019, thanks to midterm election results and the buzz generated by two well-reviewed films.

Fourteen states and the District of Columbia have already enacted laws prohibiting licensed therapists from trying to change a minor’s sexual orientation. Leaders of a national campaign to ban the practice are hopeful that at least four more states — Colorado, Maine, Massachusetts and New York — will join the ranks in the upcoming legislative sessions.
