France reports rise in anti-LGBT attacks

It's really not a wonder that this is happening since the Far Right is on the rise around the world. They hate LGBT, Muslims, immigrants, brown skinned people and generally anyone who isn't exactly like them.

PARIS — France is seeing a rise in reported attacks and other abuse targeting members of the LGBT community.

The French Interior Ministry said in a statement Tuesday that it registered 1,378 infractions based on sexual orientation last year, a rise of 34 percent from the year before.

Armed Equality

I never knew this group existed, but I'm glad it does. There's clearly a need if the LGBT community is going to continually be targeted by those who hate us.

Piper Smith, is the founder and director of Armed Equality.

Armed Equality is the largest LGBT gun rights group in the country. Smith founded the group after the terrorist attack at the Pulse Nightclub. On June 12, 2016, an Islamic extremist who had a hatred for gay people, entered the club and killed 49 people. The terrorist thought that being gay was an offense to Islam.

The shooting became the deadliest terrorist attack since 9/11. None of the revelers were armed. They could not defend themselves. Smith realized that needed to change and if no one else were going to do something, then she would.

Jussie Smollett staged hate crime

I hope that Jussie Smollett gets the help he so desperately needs. Transgender folk - both old and young are victims of hate crimes daily. For every step forward for the LGBT community as a whole in this country, we are shoved back two because of the hatred that still lingers. On top of that, there's legitimate racism in Chicago and in this country. Faking a hate crime just to get exposure, to get a higher salary, is despicable and it will have the opposite affect.

Actor Jussie Smollett, who was hospitalized late last month after an apparent racist, homophobic hate crime, has turned himself into the police and faces felony charges for allegedly orchestrating his own assault.

Smollett was arrested by the Chicago Police Department on Wednesday night, less than a month after he told police he’d been assaulted by two men who shouted slurs at him, doused him with bleach, beat him, and left a rope hanging around his neck like a noose. The men yelled “this is MAGA country” as they fled the scene, Smollett told detectives, who announced that they were treating the attack as “a possible hate crime.”

Alabama Woman 1st Trans Murder Victim of '19

I am several days late in sharing this information, for which I apologize. I do not blog from my phone, but I do everything else there, including finding stories to share here. I saved this story via my phone and got busy and unable to share. I truly hope Ms Martin finds peace in death; peace she wasn't allowed to have while walking this earth.

Dana Martin, shot to death Sunday in Montgomery, Ala., is the first transgender homicide victim of 2019.

Police found Martin, 31, in a vehicle in a roadside ditch about 11 p.m. Sunday, the Montgomery Advertiser reports. The newspaper did not mention her gender, and some other media outlets misgendered her, but local activists told The Advocate she was an African-American trans woman. She lived in Hope Hull, an unincorporated area near Montgomery.

Step-Father Murdered Gay 10 Year Old Son

I forgot that I had saved this on Facebook and forgot about it. This is horrible. These people shouldn't be parents because clearly they do not care about life. It's heartbreaking. The punishment for this kind of shit should be that she have her ovaries removed and he get a vasectomy. I hope the state is able to put the sister with family and that they aren't the same way. But most of all, I hope little Anthony rests peacefully, knowing he won't be hurt any more. :(

The sister of a 10-year-old boy allegedly killed for liking boys has revealed what she remembers of his horrifying final hours.
Anthony Avalos, 10, died on 20 June. He was malnourished, covered in bruises and burn marks, and had a series of head injuries.
His mother, Heather Barron, called 911 in Lancaster, California to say he had fallen down the stairs.
But the boy’s eight-year-old sister tells a different story. She says her mother’s boyfriend picked Anthony up and dropped him on his head 10 times hours before his death.
Both the boy’s mother, Heather Barron, and stepfather, Kareem Leiva, are indicted for capital murder.
